About Creationism and the weight of religion in UIS

follow-up to this post

[livejournal.com profile] demondoll2001 asked :
I'm wondering WHY things are so different in the US. After all, most of the the people who live in the US originally came *from* Europe. So why is it that they are so "religious" while Europeans are not?

The answer I got about this was suggested to me by an American woman a couple of years ago, and who wrote something like "Well, after all, most of the colons who came from Europe arrived in US because they'd been kicked out of Europe for being religious nutheads, that nobody still wanted to cope with over there".

*smirk*

A bit generalized and exaggerating, but... Not totally untrue.

...

I was going to make a bouncy post about nice things, but then I switched on my computer, and for some reason it has apparently re-created a whole new profile, losing my data in the process (or by the look of it, backuping it in some place but not available as a profile itself).

So until I've figured out how to get back Mozilla, its bookmarks, my Outlook archive of years, and the pile of other stuff that I can't think of right now that are probably stored in the profile info, just picture me cursing behind my computer, quite busy.

Any help / hint appreciated.
